Mr. Claude Douglas Godsey, Jr., age 73, passed from this life Friday, October 15, 2021 at approximately 12:28 a.m. at his residence in Columbus, Ohio.

He was born on December 26, 1947 in Lima, Ohio to the union of Claude D. and Phyllis (Black) Godsey, Sr.; both parents preceded him in death.

He was united in holy matrimony to Nina R. (Burse) Godsey for over 47 years; she survives in Columbus, Ohio.

Mr. Godsey retired from the Lima City Schools as a custodian after 30 years of service. He was a Veteran of the United States Air force and served in Vietnam.  He was a life member of the VFW 1911, UVA-Amvets Post 1, and American Legion Post 96.  He joined the Celina Eagles in 1998.  He was a member of the 1911 Color Guard and the American Legion Color Guard.  He was the State Guard in 1991-1992 and 1998 to 1999.  Past Post Commander of 1911 and Amvets.

Besides his loving wife Nina he leaves to cherish his precious memory a son; Kevin Jones (Diane) of Lima and a daughter; Yvonne Harris (Todd) of Columbus, OH.  A goddaughter; Latasha Barnes-Columbus.  11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. 2 brothers; William Godsey, Sr. (Helen) of Lima.  Robert Godsey, Sr. of Piqua, OH. 2 sisters; Carol Geneva Godsey and Phyllis West both of Lima.  A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by 4 brothers; Ronnie Godsey, Thomas Godsey, Alan Godsey and Charles Godsey.  A sister; Beverly Godsey Stephenson.

Home going services will be held Monday, October 25, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc.  with  Rev. Austin Lewis, Jr.,  officiating.

Visitation/Wake will be held on  Monday, October 25, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. also at the funeral home.

Interment:  Dayton National Cemetery
