Ms. Carla Jo Hurley, age 66, peacefully passed from this life on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at her residence in Lima, Ohio.

Carla was born on March 9, 1960, in Lima, Ohio, to Clifton and Bertha N. (Hamilton) Hurley, both of whom preceded her in death.

Carla was a hardworking and dedicated woman who spent many years working as a housekeeper at Lima Memorial Hospital before continuing her career with the Holiday Inn & Suites. Through her years of service, Carla touched the lives of many with her warm personality and caring spirit.

Carla was a devoted member of Philippian Missionary Baptist Church, where she proudly served as a greeter. She had a special way of making everyone feel welcomed on Sunday mornings, often greeting church family and visitors with a joke that was sure to get everyone laughing. Her joyful personality and infectious sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was also a member of American Legion Post 96, where she served as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.

In her free time, Carla enjoyed watching her beloved Dallas Cowboys, cooking, and, most importantly, spending time with her family. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with those she loved.

Carla leaves to cherish her memory her two children, Percy L. Whiteside and Tenetta Whiteside (Lonnie Funches), both of Lima, Ohio; four sisters, Deanna M. Hurley of Kokomo, Indiana, Vanessa (Rodney) Watson, Pamela (Darren) Hurley-Bass, and her twin Terri (Charles) Tisdale all of Lima, Ohio; 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; a bonus son Torrey Knight, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, friends, and loved ones.

In addition to her parents, Carla was preceded in death by her son, Tavares A. Meeks, her brother, Michael Hurley and bonus son Branson Tucker.

Homegoing services for Carla Jo Hurley will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Philippian Missionary Baptist Church. Family and friends are invited to gather for a public viewing one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery
