Mr. Benjamin Franklin Thompson, age 70, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at approximately 11:14 a.m. at Lima Manor Nursing Home.

He was born on January 11, 1947 in Florence, Alabama to the union of Willie F. and Izetta (Vaughn) Thompson, Sr.; both parents preceded him in death.

He was united in holy matrimony on December 7, 1968 to Fay L. Laws who survives in Lima, Ohio.

Mr. Thompson formerly worked at Ed Payton Volkswagen before starting his own business; Thompson's Professional Auto Cleaning.   He was a member of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.  Mr. Thompson was a first place winner 2 years in a row at the Rib Cook Off here in Lima.  He loved grilling.  He was   hard working man who loved outdoor work, cooking and spending time with his family, "No Brag just Fact".

Besides his loving wife Fay he leaves to cherish his precious memory a son; Damarius A. Wright of Lima.  3 daughters; Lashonda R. Thompson-Napier (Vincent), Karen Y. Tibbs (Anthony) and Vanessa A. Thompson all of Lima. A special son; Dewayne "Toupie" Martin.  8 grandchildren; Ashley (Lydell), Misty, Adreine, Aricka, Jar'Quevias, Jari'Ay, Tre'Mauni and Prince. 10 great grandchildren.   A brother; Anthony D. Thompson (Sharon) of Gaston, AL.   4 sisters; Mozella Ford (Peter) of Leighton, AL.  Janice Ford (Edward), Deborah Baugh (David) and Tiajuana Crenshaw (Rev. Trevor) all of Florence, AL.

He was preceded in death by a brother; Willie Thompson, Jr. and 3 sisters; Juanita Elam, Daisy R. Wright and Eva M. Davis.

Services will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at  1:00 p.m. at New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. C. M. Manley, officiating.

Visitation/wake services will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc.  from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Services entrusted to: JONES-CLARK FUNERAL HOME, INC.
