Mrs. Aree Florene Napier, age 90, when home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 24, 2014 at approximately 5:23 P.M. at Lima Manor Nursing Home.

She was born on October 12, 1923 in Florence, Alabama to the union of Simon and Lillie Hardaway Martin, both parents preceded her in death.

She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. John Elliott Napier on November 15, 1941 he preceded her in death on March 12, 1999.

Mrs. Napier was a housewife and part-time employee of the YWCA and Mitzpah Center; she also worked in private homes.

Mrs. Napier accepted Christ at 12 years old and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. Gregory at Eleven Grove Baptist Church.  She strayed away for sometime BUT came back to the faith.    She joined New Hope Baptist Church in 1961 under Pastor Eddie Kelley where she served as secretary and treasurer for over 30 years.  She also served on the Mother's Board, Usher Board, and Missionary Society and worked as the Church Custodian.

Mrs. Napier volunteered for 4 years in Girl Scouts and 2 years in 4H.  She was a Precinct Captain. She was the Treasurer of the Martin Luther King Neighborhood Association where she was the Worker of the year for many years.  She was also a finalist for the Lima Allen County Good Neighbor Award in 1999.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory 5 sons,  Albert O. Napier (Gloria) and Elliott O. Napier (Linda) both of Saginaw, MI.  Dwain A. Napier (Annie) of Lima.  Glen F. Napier of Columbus, OH and Victor R. Napier (Bonnie) of Lawrenceville, GA.  Two daughters,  Frances Napier and Bobbie J. Skipworth both of Lima.  33 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.  A sister-in-law:  Ester Napier of Lima and a best friend:  Jessie Mae Goins of Lima.  A host of nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and 4 sisters, Irene Armstead, Annie Key, Ether Rhodes and Vera Napier.
