Mrs. Annie Grace Parker, age 79, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at approximately 8:42 a.m. at Baton Rouge Medical Center in Lima.
She was born on March 2, 1935 in Johns, Mississippi to the union of Luvell and Le Donnell Purvis, both parents preceded her in death.
She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Red Parker on August 4, 1951; he preceded her in death on June 13, 1992.
She retired from ARA Food Service at Lima Ford Engine Plant. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church. She was a member of the Black Lay Catholic Caucus, a former member of Loyalty Ladies of Knights of Columbus. She volunteered at St. Rose School Cafeteria and at Our Daily Bread Soup kitchen. She loved gardening and traveling. She was a good mother, wife, grandmother and friend.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory; a son; Roosevelt T. Parker of Columbus, Ohio and a daughter; Elizabeth A. Parker of Lima. A grandson; Matthew C. Parker of Lima. A host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son; Jim D. Parker, 4 brothers; A.V. Purvis, Brud Purvis, Veldie "Mutt" Purvis and Johnny Boone. A sister; Ruby Purvis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. J. Norbert Howe, officiating.
