Obituary of Angelia Irene Garner

Angelia Irene Garner, affectionately known as Mickey transitioned from this life on Wednesday, January 24th, 2024, at 4:46 pm at OSU James Cancer Hospital surrounded by her loving husband, daughter, and sister- after a brief yet courageous battle with metastatic cancer. She was born October 17th, 1967, in Lima, Ohio to Clemmie M Johnson and Jerry E Hairston, both survive her in Lima, Ohio. She accepted Christ into her life at a young age and formally attended Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.  On July 3rd, 1993, she married Kenneth Garner, who survives her in Lima, Ohio.

Mickey never met a stranger and believed in sharing her love with whomever she came in contact with, helping whenever she could. She had a generous spirit. She loved to talk, shop, and most of all vacation! Mickey's most memorable and prized vacation was to see Michelangelo's gravity-defying frescos and the rare artistic masterpieces of the Sistine Chapel in Rome, Italy. Twice a year Mickey sailed the Caribbean with her loving husband, or faithful best friend making sure to get her daughter a souvenir turtle from every island. Prior to beginning her travels, she completed her Masters in Education from the University of Findlay, an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Northwestern Ohio, and an Associates in Medical Assisting Technology. Mrs. G (as her students would call her) most recently taught GED Classes through Lima City Schools and assisted students on Home Instruction. Prior to teaching with Lima City Schools formally, she taught at the University of Northwestern Ohio and Brown Mackie College.

Angelia Leaves to cherish a son, Dominique D Hairston, and daughter Bliss C Hairston, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, A sister London (Andre) Jackson of Crowley, Texas, and two brothers, special cousins LeAndra Johnson, and Curtis Newell, A very Special Aunt Shirley Potts, and a dear Uncle Arthur West, as well as a host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by a loving granddog, Lola Bell.
