Adrian Jerome Jones (Plute), age 54, passed away at The James Cancer Center in Columbus Ohio Aug 27, 2026. Adrian was born on June 29, 1972, in Lima, Ohio, to Judith (Jones) Mathews and Roman Wagner Sr.
Adrian leaves to cherish his stepfather, Harrison Mathews Jr. (Huey) of Lima, Ohio; sisters, LaShanta (William) Roberson and Farren Mathews, both of Savannah, Georgia; brothers, Harrison Mathews III and Ryan Mathews, both of Lima, Ohio; stepbrothers, Reggie (Terri) Mathews and Brent Mathews, both of Los Angeles, California, and Dana Holland of Lima, Ohio; a stepsister Shalonda Clark of Fort Wayne, Indiana. A maternal aunt Brenda Armstrong-McCray of Atlanta Ga. His beloved companion, Matilda Liles ; and adoptive family The Grant/Rogers of Lima Ohio. An adoptive sister Donna Kirkman of Lima Ohio, along with a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
Adrian was preceded in death by his mother, Judith Jones- Mathews; father, Roman Wagner Sr., maternal grandparents, Cora Lee (Jack) Armstrong-Cloud and James Wilbert Davis. Step grandfather Edwin (Bra) Harris, sister, Gea'Cora “Gucci” Mathews, two step-sisters Latonya Mathews and Sherrie Cannon-Adams. A maternal uncle Reverend Terry Armstrong. Adoptive brother John (JP) Pearson and godparents, Andrew (Anglean) Dillard.
Adrian held several roles throughout his career, including bartender, DJ, security, and customer service. His most recent employment included The Boilermaker and Vine Mini Mart, while his previous employment included Marko’s and Bite and Buzz. The family would like to extend a heartfelt special thank you to his employers and co-workers for treating Adrian like family, supporting him, and sharing in the many moments that made his life meaningful. Your kindness and love will forever be remembered and appreciated
Adrian had a special way of creating meaningful bonds wherever he went. His friends and co-workers became family. His warm personality, and genuine heart left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Adrian was deeply loved and will be truly missed.
Adrian’s homegoing celebration will be held Friday, September 4, 2026, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Arnold Manley officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with funeral services beginning at 12:00 noon. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate his life, honor his memory, and find comfort in the love and memories he leaves behind.
Though Adrian is no longer with us in body, the love he shared and the memories he created will continue to live on through his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a part of the story of many, and his presence will be deeply missed.
Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever in our hearts.
