Vivian Jean Bates

Mrs. Vivian Jean Bates, age 68, passed from this life on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at approximately 4:56 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health Systems.

She was born on September 13, 1950 in Terry, Arkansas  to the union of Bruce and Lillian (Halloway) Cheatom, Sr.,both parents preceded her in death.

On September 9, 1975 she was united in holy matrimony to Frank S. Bates, Sr., who preceded her in death in on September 14, 2007.

Mrs. Bates retired as a registered Nurse  from Lost Creek Care Center.  She was a member of New Life Christian Ministries.  She was a Charter Member of SEIU Union Local #1199, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.  She loved sewing and enjoyed bowling.  She was a wonderful and devoted Mother.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory 2 daughters; Shanita Owens of London, OH and Latanya Battle (Marlin) of Lima.  5 sons;  Jerry Owens, Jr. of Flint, MI.  Anthony Owens and Terrence Owens, Sr. both of Lima. Frank S. Bates, Jr.  and Jason Bates both of Huntsville, AL.  28 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.     4 sisters;  Lillian Cheatom, Thelma Whitiker, Sheila Cheatom and Melinda Cheatom all of Flint, MI.   A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a daughter; Raychel McGann.  2 brothers; Bruce Cheatom, Jr. and Richard Cheatom and a sister; Rubie Landon.

Home Going Services will be held, Saturday, November, 24, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at New Life Christian Ministries with Rev. Damian Tibbs,  officiating.

Visitation/Wake will be held on, Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. until time of services at 4:00 p.m.  also at the Church. 

Interment:  Woodlawn Cemetery
