Patricia Guice Obituary

Patricia Ruth (Estelle) Guice, age 79, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at approximately 11:50 a.m. at her residence in Lima surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born on November 17, 1938.  in Riesel, Texas to the union of Emanuel and Willie Olivia (Head) Estelle; both parents preceded her in death.

On February 7, 1955 she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Jerry Guice in Lima, Ohio by the Rev. Leroy McGee and witnessed by Luella McGee.  She faithfully cared for Jerry until her recent illness no longer allowed her to do so.  This 63 year union was blessed, Jerry survives in Lima.

Mrs. Guice retired after 30 years of service as a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Philippian Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Senior Usher Board where she was treasurer; she was also faithful to the Prayer Ministry.  She was an avid reader of books and liked to solve puzzles.

She will be remembered in many family stories passed down by her children and their spouses, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her closest of friends whom she steered in everyday life challenges with her strong will of being excellent and controlled.

Besides her loving husband Jerry, she leaves to cherish her precious memory; a daughter; Kathy M. Jolivette (Andrew, Jr.) of Missouri City, TX.  4 sons;  Anthony G. Guice (Sharon Lynn), Gerald D. Guice, Michael W. Guice and Jason L. Guice (Brenda A.) all of Lima.  A brother; Mack M. Estelle (Bridgett) of Roundrock, TX.   15 grandchildren; LeShane, Jeremy, Tatrice, Brett, Adrian, Shaun, Adam, Janelle, Ryan, Damien, Brittnee, Brandee, Patricia, Ashley, and Andre; 26  great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.  2 sisters-in-law; Gladys (Willie) McNeal, and Lula Estelle both of Lima.  A niece, Elaine Price of Houston, TX and a nephew, Brian Estelle, two sisters of the heart, Mattie Smith of Worthington, Ohio and Hannah Battle of Lima all of who gave her special care during her illness.   A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Verdell (Roosevelt) Wright and Gladys M. (Percy) Cormier.  3  brothers; Devlyn (Sadie) Estelle, Emanuel (Gertrude) Estelle and James Estelle. A brother-in-law; William Guice, Mother-in-law, Janie Koger.

Services will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Philippian Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. B. LaMont Monford, Sr., officiating.

Visitation/Wake will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc. from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. where the family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Interment:  Woodlawn Cemetery
