Martha Helen “Mot” Mitchell-Doughty, age 63, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2018 at approximately 1:14 a.m. at her residence in Lima.
“Mot” as she was affectionately called was born on September 8, 1954 in Lima, Ohio to the union of Theodis and Ollie Bell (Harris) Henry. Her father is deceased and her mother survives in Lima.
She was united in holy matrimony to Sullivan Doughty who preceded her in death.
She retired from General Motors Corporation in Defiance, Ohio. She was a member of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was the Chairperson of the Roosevelt Harris Remembrance Fund that donated Easter baskets to the congregation every year at church. She graduated from Ohio State Beauty Academy and was a Licensed Daycare Provider. She was one of the founders and originators of the Lima Caribbean Festival and loved playing cards and shopping. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, taking photos, and being around her family, she inspired many people.
Besides her loving mother she leaves to cherish her precious memory 2 sons; Carlmichael J. Mitchell (Dietre) of Los Angeles, CA and Sullivan G. Doughty (Nekosha) of Pearland, TX. 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A brother; Dennis L. Henry (Theresa) of Lima. 4 sisters; Joanne Fleming, Julia L. Nunez (Santos), Debora S. Dent and Ernestine Williams (Steve) all of Lima. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers; David D. Henry and John Russell Fleming. A sister; Rebecca A. Jean-Louis.
Services will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Nathan Madison, officiating.
Visitation/Wake will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc. from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. where the family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Interment – Woodlawn Cemetery.
