Mr. Jerry Guice, age 83, departed this life on Friday April 27, 2018 at his residence here in Lima after an extended illness. Mr. Guice was faithfully cared for by his Wife Patricia, until her recent illness and passing on April 3, 2018.
Born May 26, 1934 in Union Springs, Alabama to William Oscar Guice and Janie Johnson, both parents preceded him in Death.
On February 7, 1955 he was united in marriage to Patricia R. Estelle. They were married for 63 years with love and commitment to each other and Jerry missed her so much that he had to join her again as soon as possible.
Mr. Guice retired from General Motors Foundry in Defiance, Ohio in 1990 after 34 years of service. He accepted Christ and united with Philippian Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of U.A.W. Local Union #211. He enjoyed watching sports, playing cards, listening to music of all kinds especially Gospel and Jazz. He was well known for his strong handshake and would tease the men to see how tight he could grip their hand before they would beg him to let go.
He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter: Kathy M. Jolivette (Andrew) of Missouri City, Texas. 5 sons: Anthony G. Guice (Sharon), Gerald D. Guice, Michael W. Guice, Jason L. Guice (Brenda A.) and Greg Jones (Cynthia) all of Lima. 15 Grandchildren: LeShane, Jeremy, Tatrice, Brett, Adrian, Shaun, Adam, Janelle, Ryan, Damien, Britnee, Brandee, Patricia, Ashley and Andre. 26 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild. 2 sister in laws: Lula M. Estelle and Gladys McNeal (Willie). A brother in law: Mack Estelle (Bridgett).
He was preceded in death by a brother: William Guice, a Stepfather: Alfred Koger (Janie) and 4 sister in laws: Verdell Wright, Gladys Comier, Sadie Estelle and Gertrude Estelle. 5 Brother in Laws: James Estelle, Roosevelt Wright, Percy Cormier, Devlyn Estelle and Emmanuel Estelle.
Funeral services will be held on Monday May 7, 2018 at 12:00 noon at Philippian Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation/wake services will be held on Sunday from 4 to 8 pm. The Family will be present 6 – pm in the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery
