Mr. James Edward “Rip” Cunningham, age 71, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at approximately 12:20 a.m. at Lima Manor Nursing Home.
He was born on July 7, 1946 in Rogersville, Alabama to the union of Ola and Ruth (Bowens) Cunningham; both parents preceded him in death.
On November 23, 1992 he was united in holy matrimony to Janie M. (Walker) Cunningham who survives in Lima.
Mr. Cunningham retired from General Motors Corporation. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local 211. An avid fitness person and would get up all times at night and go to Anytime Fitness.
Besides his loving wife Janie, he leaves to cherish his precious memory; 2 sons; Michael Walker (Kimberly) of Milwaukee, WI and Christopher K. Walker of Lima. A special son; Richie Hutchins of Lima. 3 daughters; Sharon V. Turner (Larry), Alison Walker and Angelia D. Walker all of Lima. 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. 2 brothers; Laymon Cunningham (Queen) of Ft. Wayne, IN and Michael Cunningham (Bessie) of Cleveland, OH. 5 sisters; Mattie Cunningham, Barbara Fuqua, Jeanette Fuqua (Nelson) and Gridale “Shirley” Cunningham all of Lima. Ruby Thornton of Dallas, TX. 2 sisters-in-law; Annie Walker of Lima and Mary Cunningham of Florence, AL. His mother-in-law; Julia Walker of Florence, AL.
He was preceded in death by a son: Richardo Walker Cunningham. 3 brothers; Ola H. Cunningham, Samuel Cunningham and Jim Cunningham.
Home going services will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Mose Howard, officiating.
Visitation/Wake services will begin on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. until time of services also at the funeral home.
Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery
