Harrison Lee Dawson

Harrison Lee Dawson , age 92; was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday December 29, 2018 at Liberty Retirement Community of Lima. He was born  Sunday, September 26, 1926 in Hurtsboro, Alabama. He was the son of the late Hattie and Will Dawson.

He was united in Holy matrimony  May 25, 1964 to Ruby (Peterson) Dawson who preceded him in death.

“Lee” as he was affectionately known, retired from Randall Bearings and the Allen County Museum in Lima, OH. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He accepted Christ in August 1982 and was baptized by Pastor C.M. Manley.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory: 2 daughters -Earnestine Bridgeman (Columbus, GA)and Vernessa M. Averett (Lima, OH );  2 special nieces, Ethel Newby (Lima,OH) and Annie Marie Cobb “Missy”; 2 sisters - Lucille Liles and Leola Scott both of Lima,OH and sisters in law Minnie Lee Thomas (Gary, IN), Inez William's (Hurtsboro, AL) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

“Granddaddy Lee” to Angela Rice, Jarrett Bridgeman and Katrela N.Averett; Jenee’ (Quinn-Lee) Ralph, Jarret’ Bridgeman, Jayana Bridgeman, JaLaiya Bridgeman, Eva Bridgeman, NyKazia Averett, NyKese Averett and JyKese Cartwright.

Preceded in death by 3 brothers: Ted Dawson, Walter L. Dawson, Will Dawson Jr.; 6 sisters: Ceola Turpin, Minnie W. Jackson, Hattie M. Dawson, Sally M. Turner, Sally Colvin, Ossie Lee Dawson.

Harrison Lee Dawson loved to travel, garden and spend time around his family. He was a “historian “ who enjoyed sharing “tall tales” about his life experiences- especially his Army adventures.

A witty gentleman with a heart of gold who is loved and remembered by many.

One of his favorite quotes was “Stay Young - If You Can”.

Visitation/Wake will be held 10:00 a.m. until time of services also at the Funeral Home.Home Going Services will be held, Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc.

Interment:  Dayton National Cemetery
