Annie Lee (Simpson) Holmes

Annie Lee Simpson Holmes, age 99 years young, passed from this life on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at approximately 2:06 p.m. at Lima Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born on January 22, 1919 in Asheville, North Carolina to the union of Lake Alfred and Mattie Marie (Pollard) Simpson; both parents are deceased.

On November 5, 1955 she was united in holy matrimony to Malciah Seaton Holmes in Lima, Ohio, he preceded her in death on April 2, 1993.

Annie attended public schools in Asheville, N.C., and migrated to Lima, OH at an early age.   Annie was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church until her passing.  She was previously employed by the Argonne Hotel and retired from the home of Charles and Judy Burns, M.D.

Those mourning her loss include her sister Louise (Henry) Robinson of Lima, OH; a nephew she raised Kenneth (Samella) Casey of Lima, OH and children of the heart;  Kevin (Donna) Burns of Carmel, IN and Alisha (John) Norcom of Middletown, OH.  Nieces and nephews to whom she was a “Bonus Mom”: Brenda Reeder, Carolyn (David) Upthegrove, Vivian Gail Simpson, Deborah Morris, Karen Simpkins- Smith, Patricia Geraldine Simpson, Kathy DuPart, Lisa (Steven) Horton, Joel A. Pea, Edward (Sharee) Simpson, Terrence M. Pea, Sr., Steven L. (Angela) Morris, Roger L. Morris, and Michael (Josette) Morris; and special great-niece Crystal Marie Casey.  Special friends; Ellis Allen, Helen Shurelds, Harriet Cook, Linda Ousley and Edith Tolbert.  A host of great-great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her siblings; Morris (Wilma) Simpson.  Katheryne (Josiah) Pea, Mattie Marie (James) Casey, Thomas Lloyd (Bessie) Simpson, William Edward (Minnie) Simpson, and Irene (Leroy) Simpkins.  A niece and nephew she raised Judy Marie and James Robert “Bobby” Casey.  Nephews; Thomas Edward Pea and Larry Simpkins; great-niece Kendra Marie Casey and a son of the heart David Burns.

Services will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018   at 1:00 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Cleven Jones, officiating.

Visitation/Wake will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. until time of services also at the church.

Entombment:  Memorial Park Mausoleum
