Obituary of Nellie Rose Patton Knight
Mrs. Nellie Rose Patton Knight, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 8, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Nellie was born August 11, 1932, in Huntsville, Alabama to the late Raymond Patton Sr., and Irene Vaughn Patton. Both of her parents preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two sisters Carrie Grant and Evelyn Kirkman and a brother Edward (Bo) Patton.
On April 21, 1956, she was united in holy matrimony to Equilert Jordan. On March 9, 1961, she married George Cooper and to that union, four children were born: Timothy L., Portia I., Trois D., and Yolanda R. Cooper (Deceased). On December 23, 1978, Nellie married the late Rev. Willie J. Knight.
Mrs. Knight was a member of Second Baptist Church where she served as a Missionary, member of the Book Club, and a devout member of Sunday School and Bible Study. Her life represented the epitome of faith, and she was a true ambassador for the Lord. She was also a member of the Ministers Wives Alliance, Eastern Stars - Chapter 31, and the Altrusa International of Lima, OH Club.
Mrs. Knight retired from Ford Motor Company after 20 years of service. She enjoyed spending time in the word of God, singing, playing, and listening to her gospel music; spending time with her family, traveling, gardening, and playing Skip-Bo and Board games, through which she provided and displayed love, guidance, and assistance to all she encountered.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory, 3 children: Timothy L. Cooper, Portia I. Cooper, and Trois D. (David) Parker. Twenty-one grandchildren, forty-five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, a son-in-law: James Hall, a sister-in-law: Rose Marie Patton, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Home Going Services will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Dennis Ward officiating.
Visitation/Wake Services will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Jones-Clark Funeral Home.
Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery
