Ruth Hurlese Smith, age 60, passed away on Thursday, July 06, 2017  at approximately 1:36 a.m. at Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio.

She was born on November 22, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois to Hurley and Wavine  (Jones) Smith; both parents preceded her in death.

Ruth along with her sister and brothers moved to Lima, Ohio at an early age. She attended Lima Public Schools and graduated from Lima Senior High. She had one child, her daughter Tina Smith. Later, she and her young daughter would move to Columbus, Ohio after she received a job at Ohio State University.  Ruth would move on to work for Bank One before getting a job working for the State of Ohio. Later in life Ruth decided to further her education attending and completing theology school and then later going on to receive a degree in business management.

In Ruth's earlier years she loved to be outdoors. Three activities she enjoyed doing were playing tennis, golf and traveling. In her later years she developed a love for shopping and decorating her home. Ruth had a relationship with God and attended Vineyard Church in Westerville, Ohio to cultivate and grow that relationship.

 Ruth was a cherished mother, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and friend to many. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ruth is survived by her daughter; Tina Smith of Columbus, OH, her sisters; Teresa Sanders of San Antonio, TX and Molena Beasley of Mesa, AZ; brother Glen Smith of Lima, OH. Nieces; Angelique Cole and Monique Gourd both of Cleveland, OH and Kesha Cole of Cincinnati, OH.; nephews; Juaon Jennings of Lima, Demetrius Jennings of San Antonio, TX , Wilbert Cole Jr. of Cleveland, OH and Durrell Johnson of Fort Wayne, IN and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother; Alvin Smith and a sister; Rosetta Cole.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Eleventh Street Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Toney, officiating.

Visitation/Wake services will be held at 9:00 a.m. until time of the services also at the Church.
