Peggy Jean Gray, age 73, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 18, 2017 at approximately 7:24 p.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.
She was born on July 30, 1944 in Russellville, Alabama to the union of Willie Lee and Mary Lee (Scott) Smith, Sr.; both parents preceded her in death.
Peggy retired from Ford Motor Company after 31 years of service. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Peggy sang with the Symbols of Joy, The Wise Angels and the Shiloh Sanctuary Mass Choir, where she served as president. She also served as chairperson for the Kitchen Committee. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, FOE 370 and UAW Local Union # 1219. She was kind, compassionate and funny. She loved to cook and make Carmel cakes and Sweet Potato pies. She enjoyed traveling to different states with the Hy Ho Club and going to Rockford, IL to visit her brother Willie.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory a son; Chad LaMar Gray of Columbus, OH. A grandson; DeAnthony Nance of Lima. A sister; Dianthia Wilson (Lee) of Lima. A brother; Willie Smith, Jr. (Sarah) of Rockford, IL. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a sister; Edna Jackson.
Services will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Cleven Jones, officiating.
Visitation/wake services will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Shiloh Baptist Church from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services entrusted to: JONES-CLARK FUNERAL HOME, INC.
