Deontae, age 25, departed from this life on January 18, 2017 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio surrounded by his family.

Deontae Marqui “Tae-Tae” Cowens, known affectionately by his friends as Tae-Butta, was born on October 31, 1991 to Lonester Cowens II and Tresa Moore in Chicago, Illinois.

At an early age, Deontae was baptized at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Lima, Ohio and became a member of Fourth Street Baptist Church, also located in Lima.  He attended Gage Park High School in Chicago, Illinois.

Deontae was a devoted father to his son, Deontae Jr.  He was always a sweet and loving person, who was loved by many.  He was an avid basketball lover and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.

Deontae leaves to cherish his memory, his father Lonester Cowens II, mother Tresa Smith, stepfather Bryan Smith, his son Deontae Marqui Cowens, Jr., maternal grandmother Dorothy Moore, paternal grandfather Lonester Cowens Sr., 5 sisters Tatiana Cowens, Carmisha Cowens, Shanice Moore, Moesha Cowens and LaMiracle Cowens, 3 brothers Lonester “Lonnie” Cowens III, Devin Moore, and Raymond Cowens, 3 step-brothers Stephon Mitchell, Tyandre Massey and Javonte Wade, girlfriend Tiara Tisdale and special niece Riley Tennant, a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather Jerry Moore, paternal grandmother Gwendolyn Cowens and step-sister Brianna Smith.
